NZ Government’s Kneejerk Reaction has Destroyed NZ Economically for up to a Decade

While Jacinda is praised by news media who are about to receive multi million dollar hand outs from her Government, thousands of Kiwis lose their jobs, their businesses, and soon most likely their homes as they fail to pay mortgage and rent demands.

While Jacinda smiles and jokes, and bathes in praise from international media, who are completely ignorant to the pain being suffered by tens of thousands of Kiwis from the knee jerk ill thought out decision to effectively shut New Zealand down for four weeks, the country heads into disaster.  Almost by the hour we are now hearing of business after business announcing they are closing for good due to the pain of the Lockdown and the likelihood of no international visitors for another 12 months or longer.

Meanwhile Australia see as much success (pro rata) with keeping their Covid 19 infection rate and deaths low while continuing to keep retail, construction, and exports operating almost as per normal.

If Jacinda and her now big headed ministers had given even a little thought on how to do the lockdown, which by all means was needed in some form or another, they would have allowed all businesses to operate online with delivery or pick up only.  They would have allowed construction to not only continue but to increase.  They would have supported exporters to keep exporting, and motels and hotels to offer safe breaks away for residents to enjoy while keeping social distancing in place.  But instead all we got was “We have gone hard and gone early” (In fact they did what most others did at around the same time, but just went extreme, which has caused more long term damage).  As well as “We are cutting our own path” (In fact now they are just following what the other countries are doing, because they simply have no idea what to do anymore).

Lovers of Jacinda, keep enjoying her smiles and jokes, but within 4 to 6 weeks when the damage becomes glaringly obvious, watch those smiles and jokes disappear as she has to face up to the fact her knee jerk response to the Pandemic has effectively destroyed NZ’s economic future, possibly for up to a decade!
